DOBCO Medical Systems Releases PACSonWEB

DOBCO Medical Systems is pleased to announce the release of PACSonWEB, a web-based solution to distribute and exchange medical images and reports over the internet.

Today most hospitals are struggling to distribute and exchange medical data. There are several causes: they don't have a zero footprint webclient to publish the data (they have to install some software or need web add-ons: Java, Silverlight, etc.), the connectivity fails or is not reliable, there is no easy workflow, the way to access the data is difficult (e.g. what to do when a patient wants to have a second opinion or wants to go to another hospital and wants those physicians to view his studies) , etc.

PACSonWEB solves this by offering a zero footprint cloud-based web solution together with the connectivity between the sender and the cloud. Registered referring physicians can immediately view the studies they requested through a webpage, and the patient can decide who has access to the data (e.g. a physician from another hospital). It is also possible that the referring physicians receive a personalized email with a direct link to the study or the order. This workflow is highly secure and always adapted to the local privacy regulations.

Besides looking at the images and reports on any web browser, the user has also the possibility to download the full dataset and to view the images and reports through WADO (web access to dicom persistent objects) using his own viewer.

For high volume installations, we recommend a local PACSonWEB repository. In these cases the cloud only acts as registry and keeps track where the data is available and who has access to the data, keeps track of the audit logs, etc.

The first demonstrations and implementations have been a success. This is a solution that is cost-effective and makes the clinical workflow more efficient.
