Life-Shield Products Inc (LSPI) has produced the Careo Retractable Safety Syringe, the first single hand operated manual type retractable safety syringe of its kind. Over the past decades, unsafe injection and needlestick injury have become the origin of spreading deadly infectious diseases such as HIV, Hepatitis B and C in the world and an endless nightmare to most healthcare practitioners. The US has begun to mandate the use of safety device for injection after passing the legislation of Needlestick Prevention Act in November 2000. WHO and UNICEF in mid 2003 have requested his membership countries and sponsors not to use conventional syringe for vaccination and mandate the use of auto-disable (self destroyed) or safety syringe for all vaccine injection.

• Aspirate the medicine and perform injection as usual, after completing injection remove the syringe from patient
• Use your thumb to push against the hexagonal barrel grip to retract the needle into barrel
• Pull plunger to the end and snap it off
• Reverse the needle cap and insert into the barrel opening to prevent leakage of remained liquid and then dispose in sharp container
