New Standard for Surgical Gloves

SEMPERMED SYNTEGRA IR – POLYISOPRENE INSTEAD OF LATEX
In view of the drastic increase in latex allergies, the use of a non-sensitising surgical glove is VOF paramount importance. Especially since a glove with virtually the same positive properties as natural rubber latex – such as perfect grip, optimal tactile sense and maximum comfort - is available with the Sempermed Syntegra IR. At present about 17% of healthcare workers suffer from latex allergy – as compared to a prevalence of 2.3% in non-healthcare workers. In 1997, only 12% of healthcare workers were affected and patients are affected more and more by latex allergies, too. According to Heese, the numbers increased twelve-fold between 1989 and 1995.
The Sempermed Syntegra IR is made of synthetic polyisoprene, powder-free and free from allergenic proteins, at the Wimpassing facility in Austria. Like all Sempermed products, it is subjected to stringent quality and safety testing and is one of the safest surgical gloves on the market.
Even in a moist environment, good grip is guaranteed by the micro-rough surface. The synthetic lining makes it easy to put on and take off in every situation. With cream as the colour of the glove, Sempermed has developed an alternative to highly reflecting gloves that is pleasing to the eye. This, together with the fully anatomical form with slightly curved fingers, allows for fatigueless work even during longer operations.
The chemicals merkaptobenzothiazoles, thiurames and diphenyl guanidine, which are considered to be the trigger for type IV allergies in 80% of the cases, have been eliminated in the production of Sempermed Syntegra IR surgical gloves. With the tried and tested Semperit-specific finishing process, this glove is particularly friendly to the skin.
SEMPERMED SYNTEGRA SIS – FREE FROM NATURAL RUBBER LATEX AND ACCELERATORS
The Sempermed Syntegra SIS is ideal for people with type IV allergies, i.e. those people with latex allergies who have an allergic reaction to the accelerators used in the production of gloves, such as thiurames. The Sempermed Syntegra SIS is a fully synthetic copolymer glove. It also has excellent wearing properties, excellent grip and a fully anatomical fit for a natural and relaxed hand position.
