dbMotion Selected as Technology Platform for a Netherlands-Based Health Information Network

13 February 2006

San Diego, February 13, 2006 - dbMotion Inc., a provider of Web-based data-sharing technology that helps facilitate Regional Health Information Organizations and Networks (RHIO and HIN), and Ness Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ: NSTC), a global provider of information technology (IT) services and solutions, today announced that Leiden University Medical Center (LUMC), one of the leading academic medical centers in the Netherlands, will utilize the dbMotion Solution as the platform for a newly-formed Health Information Network (HIN) initially targeted at improving care for geriatric patients. Ness Technologies will serve as the prime contractor for the project. The announcement was made at the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) annual conference in San Diego.

In the current Dutch healthcare system, caregivers use automated systems to manage individual patient records. The Dutch government, however, has a long-term goal of establishing a National Electronic Patient Dossier (EPD) that will make all relevant information from the different Points of Care (POC) available on demand to providers in every region of the country. To help further this goal, LUMC conducted a comprehensive proof of concept to test whether the dbMotion Solution could serve as the platform for facilitating a Regional EPD. At the conclusion of an intensive process that included rigorous testing of the dbMotion Solution in a network of geriatric care providers, it was determined that the technology could integrate within the frameworks and channels that exist in the Netherlands for the exchange of patient information.

"After researching the market for proven and advanced solutions, and conducting a comprehensive Proof of Concept in 2004, we have selected dbMotion and Ness as prime contractor to build our Health Information Exchange," said Dr. Gerard J. Blauw, Head of the LUMC Geriatric Policlinics. "We found that dbMotion provides a complete solution for our current needs and will be able to support our future requirements over coming years."

The dbMotion Solution is a Web-based technology that gives participating healthcare organizations secure access to select components of patient medical files maintained at facilities that are otherwise unconnected or have no common technology through which to share data. This is accomplished by creating a "Virtual Patient Record" that integrates relevant patient information, while allowing all source information to remain intact in the original system, location and format. Data can be shared within and across organizations even if standardization of language and protocols (i.e., interoperability) has not been achieved.

As part of the first phase of a long-term project, dbMotion’s distributor and partner in Benelux - Ness Technologies - will implement the dbMotion Solution to connect LUMC's new geriatric care outpatient clinic with geriatric care providers in the community. Providing universal real-time access to the most up-to-date clinical information will help improve the level of care for this important patient demographic.

"The Dutch healthcare system is undergoing a significant change, and we applaud LUMC for taking the leadership role in this groundbreaking effort to bridge the gap between care providers," said Yuval Ofek, CEO for dbMotion, Inc. "Our proven solution provides the scalability necessary to make the vision of this effort a reality while providing the flexibility for all participants to maintain autonomy."

"The use of dbMotion as a generic interface for care providers for communication and integration of medical information will help the Dutch Government in achieving their goal regarding the National EMR solution", said René Schippers, Director Healthcare for NESS Benelux. "It proves that dbMotion can support the health care delivery process for consumers and medical professionals in the context of different architectural topologies for national EMR solutions".
