Smart Medical Group Announces New Capsule Endoscopy System

Leading Spanish medical device specialists Smart Medical Group have recently announced the introduction of their new OMOM capsule endoscopy system.
The innovative first line system incorporates single-use 'smart capsules' which are used in conjunction with a state-of-the-art image recorder and portable viewer.
Each compact smart capsule is about the size of a thumbnail, and contains a camera module, battery and wireless transceiver enabling live images to be relayed in real-time. These images are amplified through an image recorder incorporated into a jacket worn by the patient which receives and processes images for transmission to the workstation.
The system's intuitive touch-screen portable viewer not only allows these high-quality images to be viewed in real-time, but also allows the operator to transmit commands to the capsule. For ease of use, all aspects of this system are completely wireless.
