Core has produced the integrated Operating Room (OR) of the next generation - the new centre of interest. The integrated OR is taking on greater importance in the new millennium.

OPERATING ROOM SYSTEMS

Considering the continuously rising pressure to contain costs, solutions for more efficient OR procedures and predictable and reduced operating costs while at the same time improving the working conditions for physicians, nurses and medical staff are being sought for.

Richard Wolf GmbH, from the very beginning one of the major innovators in minimally invasive surgery, recognised this need years ago and offers suitable solutions. Intensive studies of the workflow in everyday OR procedures and continuous adaptation to the needs of our customers have allowed these solutions to be refined continuously.

These further developments have now been brought together in the innovative complete OR concept core. A concept that sets new trends in the goal of centralized OR control with its unique modular but at the same time integrative structure.

INTERACTIVE OPERATING ROOM EQUIPMENT

The main task of Core is the networking of the individual devices in the OR and a special system and control concept with interactive monitoring. Thanks to its standardization, the use of the CAN Open BUS protocol, a widely used communications standard, provides an excellent platform for continuous integration of further components. Vendor-specific communications interfaces that were often used in the past are losing importance.

OPERATING DEVICE NETWORK

The networking of the devices and the unique visualization and operating concept allow the centralised control of the entire system from one central operator panel. Core brings with it a further significant increase in efficiency in the form of voice control that is not dependent on the speaker.

ELECTRONIC OPERATING REPORTS

This allows the direct operation of devices such as cameras, light and OR table from within the sterile field of the OR and provides the basis for immediate intra-operative preparation of the OR report. The consistent use of this module ensures the immediate postoperative availability of the electronic operating report including pictures of findings and allows increased efficiency in the documentation from a forensic perspective.

MEDICAL IMAGE MANAGEMENT

This leads to a further development - the medical image management system (PACS system). With MEDIMAGE®, complete, digital patient picture and document management is possible. Starting from workstations for picture acquisition, processing and archiving and progressing to server, network and telecommunications solutions it provides every form of image data management as well as tailored, customised solutions.

PRE-OPERATIVE IMAGE DATA

MEDIMAGE unites all forms of pictures, films and reports from radiology, cardiology and surgery. The possible intra-operative visualisation of preoperative image data (X-ray, CT) on suitable monitors in the operating field of the physician, plays just as great a role in cost reduction as in increased operating safety.

Core is rounded off by the variable installation of the system in ceiling supply units, distributed nurse stations and mobile system trolleys and through the integration of OR tables and other peripheral devices.
