Trust, Assurance and Safety: The Regulation of Health Professionals

09 March 2010

The UK Department of Health sets out key principles for settlement for health professional regulation, but putting those principles into practice will require the advice and participation of a wide range of stakeholders to ensure effective delivery.

Governments can have a key role in establishing an inclusive national advisory group on professional regulation to advise the department and the devolved administrations on the detailed implementation of the regulations outlined.

The guidelines set out a range of measures to improve and enhance clinical governance in the NHS.
