DuPont has published a brochure (Corian® in Healthcare, available in English, French, Italian, Spanish and German) illustrating properties and advantages of Corian® solid surfaces in healthcare applications. A composite material of special acrylic resin, alluminium and pigments, Corian® is inert, non toxic and hypoallergenic, provides aseptic and hygienic solid surfaces and a warm and comfortable atmosphere in healthcare environments. Corian® is homogeneous, non porous and can be joined with inconspicuous seams. It's then easy to clean and maintain, prevents the growth of bacteria and micro organisms and reduces the risks of hospital-acquired infections. It is an ideal material for surgical benches, operating theatre handbasins and wall cladding, endoscopy cabinets, laboratory benchtops, work surfaces in infirmaries and clinics, reception desks, sinks, showers and other fixtures in patients' rooms and bathrooms or public washrooms, cafeteria counters, signage, and autopsy slabs. It can also bring significant improvements to neonatology departments, as well as endoscopy, nuclear medicine and maternity ward facilities. It can be thermoformed to any shape, size or dimension making it applicable in virtually all spaces. It's extremely durable and easily repaired or renewed on site and can be installed also as wall cladding over a previously tiled surface.
