A Hospital's Guide for Exploring Anesthesia Options12 December 2011
This white paper provides a guide for hospitals to help them determine when and if they should change their anesthesia group.
It states that the most common reasons executives put of changing their anesthesia group are inexperience in running the change process and fear of disrupting services in the hospital's major source of revenue - the operating room (OR).
But, before spending the time and resources needed to change anesthesia providers, it is important to determine whether the facility is a good candidate for change or not, according to the paper.
The paper explains that one of the best tools for defining issues and evaluating solutions is the request for proposal (RFP) process.
This process helps identify issues and offers a mechanism for finding solutions, potentially ones that hospitals had not considered.
