Boston Scientific Reports First Cardiac Defibrillator Implantation

10 May 2011

Boston Scientific has announced the first implants of its Energen and Punctua cardiac resynchronisation therapy defibrillators (CRT-Ds) and implantable cardioverter defibrillators (ICDs) at University Hospital Düsseldorf, Germany.

Energen and Punctua are the smallest and thinnest high energy CRT-Ds and ICDs designed to improve the ability of physicians to deliver effective patient care.

The devices, coupled with the 4-SITE connector system, offer an easy implant procedure with a less pronounced physical appearance for the patient.

University Hospital Düsseldorf professor Peter Lecher said the devices reduce the need for additional implant surgeries.
