JICA Cancels Grant to Philippine Hospital

20 June 2011

Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) has cancelled a $10m grant that would have helped pay for the construction of a new hospital in Cebu, the Philippines.

JICA said the cancellation is due to the economic crisis that has followed earthquake tsunami and nuclear disaster that affected the country earlier this year.

Cebu will apply for the grant again in 2012.

JICA is a sister corporation of the Japan Bank for International Cooperation, the financial agency which granted the loan for Cebu's South Reclamation Project this year.
