Surgeons Perform First US Surgery Using New Heart Valve Repair Ring

22 June 2011

Surgeons have completed the first surgery in the US using the Contour 3D annuloplasty ring following its approval by the US Food and Drug Administration.

The device, used to treat tricuspid valve disease, is designed to restore normal function by remodelling the valve's natural shape and size.

The surgery was performed at St Francis Heart Center in Indiana on a 74-year-old woman with congestive heart failure.
