India's Fortis Healthcare has agreed to acquire a 65% stake in Vietnam-based Hoan My Medical Corporation (HMC) for R2.89bn ($64m).

The deal provides Fortis Healthcare with access to the Indochina region, where the healthcare services sector offers significant growth opportunities, according to the Economic Times.

Fortis Healthcare intends to build and aggregate healthcare businesses and assets across all healthcare segments including primary care, speciality day care and diagnostics.

In the past eight months, Fortis has acquired a private primary care company in Hong Kong, a dental care company in Australia, a speciality hospital project in Singapore and a stake in an existing hospital in Sri Lanka.
