Researchers at Singapore General Hospital and Nanyang Technological University have developed a device that can predict a patient's risk of heart failure.
The non-invasive device measures changes in time between heartbeats to predict if a patient is at risk of suffering a heart failure within 72 hours.
A preliminary study showed that the device, when combined with traditional methods of diagnosis, was able to predict the heart failure risk with 50% accuracy.
Researchers are currently working with a commercial partner to come up with a prototype of the device.
