Junior doctors in the UK accounted for the top 30 recipients of overtime pay in Ireland's Health Service Executive (HSE) during the past year, according to the data obtained in response to a freedom of information request.
The analysis shows that one junior doctor working as a specialist registrar received 142,896 for overtime worked in the past year, while the top ten recipients of overtime received a total of 1.1m
Fine Gael Health spokesman Dr James Reilly said that the overtime was a result of a failure to roster junior doctors appropriately.
