Ascom Wireless Solutions is set to provide its wireless mission-critical communications platform to four hospitals in the Netherlands.

The hospitals have placed a collective €1.2m order through Ascom’s Dutch sales partner, Zetacom.

The wireless Ascom communications package will help the hospitals to improve their clinical workflow, facilitate better contact between patients and caregivers, and streamline administrative processes such as purchasing, maintenance and technical management.

According to the company, the package comprises 3,650 WiFi handsets as well as a central communication platform and software.

Ascom will start delivery of its package in 2014 in four phases to Vlietland Hospital in Schiedam, Sint Franciscus Gasthuis in Rotterdam, Reinier de Graaf Hospital in Delft and Haga Hospital in The Hague.

The wireless communications package has been designed to meet the challenges of patient-centered care in the hospitals.

"The package comprises 3,650 WiFi handsets as well as a central communication platform and software."

The WiFi handsets feature the ability to integrate seamlessly with other communications systems, such as nurse call and Unite Assign, which will enable nursing departments to more efficiently exchange information and respond to alarms.

Ascom global sales vice president Dennis Andersson said the company is proud to be able to deliver complete solutions to the hospitals.

"Several of them are already using Ascom’s nurse call solutions with very satisfactory results, which is part of the reason why they decided to go with Ascom again," Andersson added.
