Prime Healthcare Services, the owner of 14 hospitals in California, US, has acquired Saint Mary's Regional Medical Center in Reno, Nevada, from Dignity Health, formerly Catholic Healthcare West.
The 380-bed hosptial was named the first nationally accredited breast cancer centre in Nevada and offers women's and children's health services, heart surgery and cancer treatment programmes.
Saint Mary's became an affiliate of Catholic Healthcare West in 2006 but lost money under the ownership.
Saint Mary's Regional Medical Center COO Helen Lidholm said, "We are thankful for Prime Healthcare's willingness to save this vital healthcare institution, and we look forward to setting the pace as a leading hospital under Dr. Reddy's leadership."
As part of the sale, Saint Mary's Regional Medical Center will retain its name and will continue to meet the community needs of the greater Reno area, according to Prime Healthcare Services.
