Dubai-based DM Healthcare has opened the Aster-Aadhar Hospital, a multi-speciality hospital in Kolhapur, Maharashtra, India.

The 175-bed facility is a joint venture between DM Healthcare and Aadhar Hospital, according to The Hindu Business Line.

The new hospital is equipped with a cath lab, modular operating theatres, a haemodialysis unit, intensive care units and ventilated patient care facilities, hospital officials said.

The hospital will offer treatment in general medicine, surgery, orthopaedics, obstetrics/gynaecology and paediatrics, and will undertake ENT surgery, cardiac surgeries, cancer treatment and kidney transplants.

The new facility incorporates five modular zero-infection operating theatres including separate theatres for cardiac, neurology, laparoscopy, oncology and joint replacement, as well as one labour operating theatre and labour complex.

The hospital also includes a 24-hour accident and emergency department with bed capacity of six and three triage beds along with a minor operating theatre.

Aster-Aadhar will deploy advanced medical technology to support medical staff and offer the best medical environment for treatment, the hospital officials said.

The DM Healthcare network currently consists of 125 facilities, providing primary, secondary and tertiary healthcare with management and consultancy services.

The group plans to expand in India and the Gulf nations, with the number of DM units set to grow to 300 by the year 2015 with a total investment of $500m.
