Edward Hospital & Health Services in Naperville, Illinois, US, has set up 12 Carestream wireless digital radiography (DR) systems to increase efficiency and enhance patient care.
The hospital installed eight Carestream DRX-1 Systems into existing equipment to revamp its ED and radiology department and used three Carestream DRX-Mobile Retrofit kits to upgrade existing portable X-ray units used for patient bedside imaging in the OR, ICU and ED.
The hospital is also implementing the Carestream DRX-Evolution System, which accelerates all types of X-ray exams, at its new outpatient centre in south Plainfield, Illinois.
Edward Hospital radiology quality control coordinator Ryan Garland said, "Carestream's DRX systems with DRX-1C detectors enable us to dramatically improve operational efficiencies while concurrently reducing dose by up to 60% for the patients we serve."
The fully automated Carestream DRX-Evolution System is designed to reduce patient wait times and enables the clinic to handle more patients each day, according to Carestream.
The Carestream DRX Systems, which are equipped with cesium iodide DRX-1C detectors to improve image quality and help reduce dose, will enable physicians to swiftly review X-ray imaging exams subsequently leading to an immediate diagnosis and faster treatment decisions.
The Carestream DRX-1C detector features high detective quantum efficiency and spatial resolution to enhance image quality and minimise exposure.
Carestream Health digital medical solutions president Diana Nole said, "Since our DRX systems can upgrade existing portable and room-based imaging systems, healthcare facilities of all sizes and budgets can afford to implement innovative technology that helps enhance patient care."
