Kuwait hospital deploys laser dermatology solution to treat scars

Dar Al Shifa Hospital in Kuwait has deployed a laser-based technology to offer patients non-ablative skin resurfacing surgery.

The Fraxel Dual machine includes a 1550nm laser which treats scars, pigment irregularities, wrinkles, skin photodamage, mild to moderate periorbital wrinkles and acne scars.

A new 1927nm Thulium laser can also be used for better clearance of pigment irregularities or dyschromias on the entire body, including facial melisma.

Dar Al Shifa Hospital consultant dermatology and head of department Dr. Mohammed Al Qasmi said the Fraxel Dual machine is the only laser with this groundbreaking wavelength technology.

"The new wave of 1550nm laser provides treatment of deep collagen layer, while the other wave of 1927 provides more superficial type of treatment without ablating the superficial layer of the skin which occurs with other older adding laser machines," he added.

"We are proud to introduce this unique machine in Kuwait for the first time, as part of our continuous efforts of providing a complete sound healthcare service to all of our patients."
