Liverpool Primary Care Trust opens health centre in Everton

3 May 2012

The Liverpool Primary Care Trust (PCT) in Merseyside, UK, has opened a new health centre in Everton.

The £6m facility is the twelfth development to be delivered by Merseyside development firm LSHP on behalf of NHS Merseyside.

The added services offered at new facility will include extended GP opening hours over evenings and weekends, dental services, a pharmacy, blood tests and nurse-led treatments.

Liverpool Primary Care Trust chair Gideon Ben-Tovim said when the trust outlined the plans it had a vision of delivering a range of services closer to people's homes, to make it more convenient and quicker for patients to access them.

"As we ready ourselves for handing over our commissioning responsibilities to Clinical Commissioning Groups, I'm delighted to see that the Neighbourhood Health Centres and the NHS Treatment Centre are already making a huge difference to the communities they serve," Ben-Tovim added.

The Everton development is the second development to be delivered in the area since January 2012, and was announced following an eight-week consultation project.
