Hackensack University Medical Center (HackensackUMC) in Bergen County, New Jersey, US, has selected Omnicell to provide automated medication management solutions throughout the facility.
The 775-bed hospital will install Omnicell's G4 medication automation solutions to improve pharmacy and nursing workflow and enhance overall patient safety, and will install the Omnicell Anesthesia Workstation G4 in the operating rooms to automate processes for improving charge capture.
HackensackUMC pharmacy director Nilesh Desai said the hospital needed a solution that would address patient-specific medications and offer robust inventory and data management processes.
"We elected to go with Omnicell for a system-wide conversion because we felt they could take us to the next level of improving quality, patient safety and efficiency," Desai added.
"Omnicell's company philosophy, current solution set and product roadmap for the future all align with our mission that 'the patient comes first'."
HackensackUMC is expected to progressively install OmniRx G4 Automated Medication Dispensing Cabinets, Anesthesia Workstation G4, Controlled Substance Management, SinglePointe, Anywhere RN solution, OmniDispenser module and Pandora Analytics.
The G4 platform offers a single unified database across the continuum of medications maintained in automated dispensing cabinets, accessed through an intuitive user interface.
The single database eliminates the need for repetitive entry of drug formularies and rules in multiple locations, thereby saving significant pharmacy time and reducing the risk of human error.
The integrated Medication Label Printer will allow HackensackUMC to label critical IVs and antibiotics, in addition to other patient medications, for more timely and secure administration.
