Onslow Memorial Hospital, a 162-bed facility located in North Carolina, has selected Avadyne Health to implement A/R and Denial Follow-Up workflow technology for the Jacksonville, North Carolina facility. SafetyNet Staffing will also be provided as an on-demand service.

This contract is the first partnership negotiated under the terms of Avadyne’s agreement with the Southern Atlantic Health Alliance (SAHA), which was established in 2004 to nurture collaborative relationships among member hospitals in order to improve the quality of health care.

Onslow Memorial Hospital patient accounts and patient access director Pamela Thompson said the hospital is looking forward to the implementation of the software platform.

"This will allow us to track denials, productivity, review detailed reports, and much more," Thompson added.

Onslow’s business office staff will utilise Avadyne’s proprietary Next-in-Queue workpooling technology to achieve faster A/R resolution and reduced error rates.

Avadyne’s workflow allows the hospital’s staff to track payers based on a segmentation approach that analyses collectability and maximises cash flow.

Denial Follow-Up software also incorporates the same Next-in-Queue approach in order to deliver the next most important denial.

"This will allow us to track denials, productivity, review detailed reports, and much more."

In addition, Avadyne’s process reveals the source of denials by capturing standardised responsible area and root cause details.

Avadyne anticipates that its queuing algorithm will increase efficiency substantially at Onslow hospital. The implementation of the project will begin in December and should be fully operational by mid-first quarter 2014.

Avadyne Health president Tyson McDowell said that partnering with a member hospital of the Southern Atlantic Healthcare Alliance is a great opportunity for Avadyne as it expands its presence throughout the Carolinas region.

"We’re excited to see how Onslow’s business office staff improves their A/R and denial management processes with our software," McDowell added.

Onslow Memorial Hospital is nationally accredited by the Joint Commission on the Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) and is also considered a national leader (as measured by Press Ganey, an independent, national healthcare research firm) in several areas of patient satisfaction.
