Army General Hospital in the Philippines has invested PHP70m ($1.6m) in new equipment to improve its medical services.

The hospital purchased a 2D echo machine that allows accurate measurement of the heart chambers, an electrosurgery unit, which delivers high-frequency electric current to biological tissue to amputate, coagulate, desiccate or fulgurate tissue; as well as cast cutters, infusion pumps and an oxygen concentrator.

It is also planning to purchase additional mechanical beds, stainless bedside tables, operating room tables and operating room lights.

AGH is the premier hospital of the Philippine Army, providing diagnostic, surgical and treatment procedures to soldiers, their dependents and authorised civilians.
