Anesthesia Touch

US-based Tufts Medical Center has automated its anesthesia documentation process with the installation of the Anesthesia Touch solution developed by Plexus Information Systems.

Anesthesia Touch is a full-featured anesthesia information management system (AIMS) designed to automate the anesthesia documentation process.

The solution enables Tufts Medical Center’s anesthesia providers to improve workflow processes, enhance patient safety and increase mobility.

Anesthesia Touch features iOS iPad technology designed for preoperative and postoperative rooms and Windows touchscreen technology for intraoperative rooms.

When integrated with other systems and equipment in the medical centre, the solution helps anesthesia providers enhance communication between their perioperative personnel.

"The capability of our AIMS to integrate with other hospital systems ensures that our patients receive the highest level of anesthesia care."

Tufts Medical Center anesthesiologist-in-chief Scott Segal noted the importance of having a customisable AIMS system with a clinician-friendly user interface.

"The capability of our AIMS to integrate with other hospital systems ensures that our patients receive the highest level of anesthesia care at our medical centre," Segal added.

Plexus president Albert Woo said: "Comprehensive reporting will also help Tufts Medical Center to effectively demonstrate quality performance compliance and will help anesthesia providers take full advantage of the clinical and financial benefits of the meaningful use incentive program."

Tufts Medical Center is a not-for-profit, 415-bed academic medical centre that comprises a full-service hospital for adults and Floating Hospital for Children.
