The global healthcare industry noticed a 4.1% rise in IT hiring activity in August 2021 over the previous month, led by Accenture’s 26.17% share, according to GlobalData’s Jobs Analytics database.

The healthcare industry’s overall hiring activity increased 3.92% when compared with July 2021.

Noticeably, IT jobs accounted for a 15.04% share of the global healthcare industry’s hiring activity in August 2021, up 1.08% over the last three-month average share.

According to GlobalData, IT job opportunities available at the end of August 2021 were 6.53% lower when compared with the previous month.

The decrease was a result of 10.34% higher job postings as compared to job closures during the month.

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers drive healthcare IT hiring activity

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers with a share of 78.91% emerged as the top IT occupation in the healthcare hiring activity in August 2021, a 3.36% decline over the previous month. Database and Network Administrators and Architects came in second with a share of 9.07% in August 2021, up 14.12% over the previous month.

The other prominent IT roles include Miscellaneous Computer Occupations with a 5.9% share in August 2021, a growth of 1.55% over the previous month, and Computer and Information Analysts with a 3.26% share in August 2021 and a drop of 4.23% over July 2021.

Top five healthcare companies by recruitment activity in August 2021

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average decline of 6.28% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of global healthcare industry during August 2021 over July 2021.

Accenture posted 11,615 IT jobs in August 2021 and registered a drop of 20.36% over the previous month, followed by Cognizant Technology Solutions with 11,077 jobs and a 1.17% decline. International Business Machines with 5,478 IT jobs and Oracle with 1,741 jobs, recorded a 61.35% growth and a 20.39% drop, respectively, while DXC Technology recorded a 32.98% drop with 1,268 job postings during August 2021.

Regional composition of IT hiring in healthcare industry

Asia-Pacific emerged as the leading region in the global healthcare IT hiring activity in August 2021 with a 62.82% share, which marked a 4.6% drop over the previous month.

North America stood next with 27.29%, registering a 24.29% month-on-month growth. Europe was the third leading region with an 8.21% share and a 34.71% drop over July 2021.

In the fourth place was South & Central America with a share of 0.61% and a month-on-month drop of 20.7%. Haryana stood at the bottom of the table with a share of 0.57%, registering a 666.67% increase over the previous month.
