Workforce solutions provider HealthStream has signed a definitive agreement to acquire the staff scheduling business of Change Healthcare, which includes its ANSOS Staff Scheduling (ANSOS) application and associated products, for $67.5m.

Contracted by more than 300 hospitals and health systems, ANSOS Staff Scheduling application is now added to HealthStream’s Workforce Solutions segment.

HealthStream CEO Robert Frist, Jr said: “We are excited to add ANSOS to HealthStream’s growing nurse and staff scheduling business for healthcare providers as we believe this is a major win for everyone: customers, partners, employees, and shareholders.

“The closing of this transaction will establish HealthStream as an industry leader in nurse and staff scheduling for healthcare providers.”

ANSOS will enable healthcare providers to manage labour costs, apply complex work rules, and meet credential requirements for shifts to optimise staff deployment.

With the addition of Change Healthcare’s staff scheduling business, HealthStream will be able to expand its growing portfolio of solutions for staff scheduling and workforce management.

Working in concert with each other, the three products ANSOS, Enterprise Visibility, and Capacity Planner will create a solution suite for aligning staff and scheduling based on patient acuity.

Upon closing of the acquisition, about 90 employees from Change Healthcare will join HealthStream.

HealthStream senior vice-president Scott McQuigg said: “We have an exciting vision for the future of scheduling and engaging nurses and staff, while helping healthcare providers better align staffing with demand.”

The transaction is subject to customary closing conditions and is anticipated to take place in the fourth quarter of this year.
