The Netherlands-based university hospital Erasmus Medical Center (MC) has selected Hewlett Packard Enterprise’s (HPE) Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) solutions to provide an improved hybrid workplace experience to its remote and onsite hospital staff.

Erasmus MC staff will use the HPE VDI solution built on HPE Synergy and HPE Primera to obtain faster and easier access to their critical work applications.

Along with RIVM, the Dutch National Institute of Public Health and the Environment, the hospital is carrying out Covid-19 tests and critical antibody research.

Erasmus MC ICT manager Erwin van den Heuvel said: “The combination of HPE Primera and HPE Synergy enables us to offer our employees a fast and flexible work environment, both in the hospital and while working at home.

“The HPE VDI solution helps our medical staff receive fast access to critical applications, resulting in shorter wait times for patients that need to meet with a doctor or nurse.

“In addition, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, it was important to provide our non-medical staff with a robust and secure remote working environment to carry out their important work from home.”

HPE delivered an improved VDI environment for Erasmus MC to address the medical center’s work-from-home requirements.

The environment supports an increased demand for performance and provides secure access to the centre’s employees.

Furthermore, the hospital upgraded its IT infrastructure to provide faster and secure access to critical data and applications to its onsite staff from anywhere within the system.

HPE Synergy and HPE Primera technologies deliver cloud-like agility, resiliency, and scalability to support critical workloads in an intensely demanding medical environment.

They are also integrated with HPE InfoSight for providing cloud-based AI-driven operations for monitoring, predicting and preventing infrastructure problems prior to their occurrence.
