The Government of Bacolod City in the Philippines has acquired different medical equipment to run a temporary Covid-19 facility, named Bacolod City Respiratory Referral Center (BCRRC).
Mayor Evelio Leonardia said that the acquisition will boost bed capacity for patients with mild to moderate symptoms. The facility is located at the Bacolod Queen of Mercy Hospital.

The acquired equipment included 17 beds, two stretchers, a mobile X-ray machine, two wheelchairs and an electrocardiogram (ECG) machine with some accessories.
In addition, the government purchased a defibrillator, a video laryngoscope, ten hand-held thermal scanners, one autoclave, ten units of adult and two units of paediatric blood pressure (BP) apparatus.
The City Council authorised the deed of usufruct between the city government and the Bacolod Queen of Mercy Hospital for the use of the equipment at the Covid-19 facility.
Under the terms of the contract, the equipment will be owned by the city and will be made available for free use by the hospital.

As part of the arrangement, the Bacolod Queen of Mercy Hospital will convert its 34-room south wing into the referral Covid-19 centre.
The hospital will offer medical, nursing, utility and administrative staff for the BCRRC while the city will deploy ten registered nurses to work in shifts.
In addition, the city government is drafting a memorandum of agreement (MoA) with the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) to build two sets of quarantine facilities.
Each set will be available as a one-storey container with 16 isolation rooms, a nurses’ station, a utility room and quarters for on-duty medical personnel .
These facilities will increase the bed capacity for Covid-19 patients who do not require hospital care, in turn freeing hospital room for the critically-ill patients.
Earlier this week, the DPWH agreed to support the Department of Health (DOH) in expediting the construction of additional Covid-19 facilities at two hospitals in Quezon City.
