Chinas Central-South Architectural Design Institute (CSADI) has teamed up with Dassault Systèmes to support the simulation and evaluation of virus dispersal in the Leishenshan Hospital in Wuhan.
This modular hospital, which was built in 14 days following the coronavirus outbreak, is the largest hospital for infectious diseases including Covid-19.
CSADIand Dassault Systèmes will levarge 3DEXPERIENCE platform simulation capabilities to simulate virus contamination.
The company has donated SIMULIA XFlow software, powered by the 3DEXPERIENCE platform, to CSADI to simulate indoor and outdoor fluids, virus dispersal in ventilation systems, and for other projects within the hospital.
Furthermore, it will also simulate outdoor exhaust emission impacts on nearby surroundings to help the design and site selection of the modular hospital.

CSADI, a strategic partner of Dassault Systèmes in China, undertook the design of Leishenshan Hospital.
Minimising cross-infection in the hospital and any impacts on external communities, crowds and surroundings are the key considerations of the institute.
Commenting on the development, CSADI Engineering Digital Technology Center director Zhang Shen said: “Dassault Systèmes technology focuses on the life and the future.
“CSADI showed ‘China Speed’ during the Leishenshan Hospital Project and will use Dassault Systèmes’ advanced SIMULIA XFlow software to simulate indoor air distribution schema and optimize suggestions on better contamination discharge in negative pressure wards to protect medical personnel.”
The 3D cloud-based collaborative platform approach is claimed to replace an older, slower document-based approach.
