BMI Healthcare, an independent hospital group in the UK, has opted for the Plumtree Group’s document scanning systems for both secure local access and efficient access for central administrative functions.
Designed to match with BMI’s new group-wide patient administration system, the system will facilitate the scanning of documents being produced by BMI Healthcare’s 69 hospitals and treatment centres across the UK.
BMI Healthcare technology solutions director Paul Cowley said that the deal with the Plumtree Group will enable BMI to take a significant step forward in the IT services available to its hospitals.
"It will ultimately help BMI to provide a smoother and more efficient service to our patients," Cowley added.
Under a contract signed four years ago, existing document scanning systems from Plumtree had been established at four BMI hospitals and in BMI’s finance shared service centre.
The new contract will now allow BMI to use both the dartEDM electronic document and records management and dartQSCAN automatic file indexing and capture systems.
Plumtree Group director Ben Dorks said that the company is pleased to be building on its successful relationship with BMI Healthcare.
"Their staff will be able to scan in documents from multi-function devices in a variety of locations, processing forms and other records more efficiently and effectively than ever before," Dorks added.
