Northwest Specialty Hospital in the US has become the first hospital in the Pacific Northwest to use new robotic technologies and automation solutions for spine surgery.

Among the technologies being utilised by the hospital include the Xenex LightStrike Robot system, which uses xenon bulbs and ultraviolet light to kill pathogens in surgical suites.

The Xenex system keeps the rooms clean and reduces the likelihood of patients getting an infection when performing a surgery.

The hospital is also using iSuite surgical environment designed by medical technology firm Stryker. It features voice automation, fluorescence imaging and a range of digital improvements designed to enhance surgical productivity and safety.

Northwest Specialty Hospital is claimed to be the first hospital in the Pacific Northwest to have an operating room that includes a fully integrated 4K surgical video platform.

Globus Medical’s ExcelsiusGPS robotic navigation platform is also being utilised by the hospital to enhance safety and improve efficiency for patients.
