Panama Ministry of Health, Minsa, has signed a contract with ACCIONA for the construction, equipping and maintenance of a new children’s hospital in Panama City.

Valued at $614.2m, the project is said to be one of the Panama’s largest initiatives.

Named Hospital del Niño, the new facility is expected to be one of the country’s main hospital complexes. It will involve a general medicine centre and an adjoining maternity hospital.

The hospital will have a total of 720 beds across the general practice and maternity buildings.

ACCIONA will also be responsible for the restoration services of the hospital’s gardens, and the renovation of the administrative services building, along with additional adjacent facilities.

After completion, the new hospital complex will cover more than 165,000m2 of new build and 5,700m2 of rehabilitated space. Hospital del Niño will span over 94,000m2, with 476 beds and 14 operating theatres.
