Health technology firm Royal Philips and France-based Rennes University Hospital have signed a five-year technology and innovation partnership supporting diagnostic, interventional imaging and patient monitoring and management.

The alliance will leverage both the partners’ open innovation ecosystems for better clinical research and to promote French start-up companies.

Philips will be responsible for delivering new medical technologies and providing management and maintenance services for the hospital’s diagnostic and interventional imaging modalities, such as CT, MRI, and image-guided therapy, apart from patient monitoring.

Philips will also offer informatics solutions in the form of central, high-resolution data warehouses to improve quality and efficiency, while extending comprehensive visualisation and analysis tools to augment diagnostic capabilities for complex medical cases.

Experts from the Philips Healthcare Transformation Services will help in enhancing clinical pathways and patient experience, particularly for neuro-radiology departments and ICUs.

Philips France general manager David Corcos said: “Philips and Rennes University Hospital are entering into a ground-breaking partnership aimed at significantly improving the stroke pathway and co-developing AI algorithms to improve care for the most acute patients, particularly those in the ICU.
