TriHealth has entered an agreement to acquire Clinton Memorial Hospital (CMH) and its assets in Wilmington, Ohio, US, marking the expansion of its network to include a sixth acute care hospital.

This strategic move aims to leverage the combined strengths of both institutions to better serve their communities.

It is poised to reinforce CMH's 75-year history of community service, ensuring ongoing local access to healthcare providers and expanding clinical resources to enhance service offerings.

For Clinton County residents, the integration into TriHealth promises improved patient experiences and access to specialised care in areas such as women's health, cancer, heart and vascular, neurosciences, and stroke.

CMH CEO Tom Daskalakis said: “CMH has been serving Clinton County with high-quality hospital-based and outpatient care for nearly 75 years.

“As community hospitals face continuing challenges in today’s complex healthcare environment, we recognise that becoming part of a vibrant regional system such as TriHealth will enable us to continue that legacy while providing seamless access to care for our patients and community for years to come.”

TriHealth's relationship with Clinton County includes operating TPP Wilmington, a nine-provider primary care practice, and partnering to offer obstetrics and lactation services at CMH since 2022.

TriHealth's Bethesda North Hospital also serves Clinton County patients.

With a history of collaborating with rural hospitals, TriHealth will work alongside state regulators and the Clinton County Commission to finalise the acquisition.

The transition of ownership is designed to be smooth for patients, with both companies dedicated to the continuity of care.

Furthermore, TriHealth and CMH are focused on a seamless staff transition and on maintaining ties with CMH's local providers.
