St Joseph’s Hospital and Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital located in Parkersburg, West Virginia, US, are to officially merge this month.

West Virginia Health Care Authority has approved West Virginia United Health System to purchase St Joseph’s Hospital.

The authority has also simultaneously affiliated St Joseph’s Hospital with Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital, bringing both groups together under West Virginia United Health System.

Following the merger, the hospitals will operate together as part of the West Virginia United Health System.

The combined entity will form a $400m organisation with more than 2,000 employees, and will care for about half a million outpatients every year, according to hospital officials.
