The Australian Government has committed A$96m ($96m) to the upgrade of the Port Macquarie Base Hospital in Port Macquarie, New South Wales.
The funding will provide a new 30-bed medical inpatient unit, an expanded critical care unit, an expanded emergency department and an operating theatre block.
The upgrade is designed to boost the health services in the city and the surrounding areas.
It includes an additional 12 surgical beds, an expanded perioperative unit, a relocated and expanded central sterilising and supply department, and space to relocate and expand of the preadmissions clinic and clinical support services department.
