The Abu Dhabi Health Services Company (SEHA) has started construction work on the emirate’s 598m Mafraq Hospital.

The hospital will be built adjacent to the existing Mafraq facility, which will continue to provide healthcare services until the new facility is fully functional.

The new hospital includes 739 beds, 139 outpatient clinics, 60 examination and treatment rooms, and will serve as a centre of excellence in thoracic surgery, orthopaedic surgery and burn treatment.

The facility will be spread across 245,000m² and will have underground parking facility for 1,300 vehicles.

The project has been awarded to the Al Habtoor Leighton Murray Roberts joint venture, and is scheduled to be completed in April 2014.
