The Good Samaritan Hospital in Los Angeles, US, has unveiled a $100m expansion and enhancement plan, which includes the redesign of key healthcare service areas and the upgrade of critical engineering systems.

The work will be completed in five phases, with the first phase involving the construction of a 200,000ft², five-storey inpatient pavilion, providing space for 120 beds.

Following phases will include the construction of an energy centre, as well as renovations of the Columbian Towers and Health Pavilion.

The construction work will start later in 2011 and is estimated to take six years to complete.

Following the expansion the hospital will have a total of 165 beds.
