Apollo Hospitals Enterprise is planning to invest around INR9bn-INR10bn ($201.4m-$223.7m) to add 2,500 hospital beds across India.

The beds will be added through the construction of 20 new hospitals, which will be built across the southern and northern parts of the country, including Mumbai.

Apollo Hospitals plans to add 1,000 beds during the present fiscal year and another 1,500 beds in 2012/13.

The proposed expansion will be funded through the proposed Qualified Institutional Placemen, promoters infusion, debt and internal accruals.

The Indian hospital chain is also planning to set up two medical colleges to address human resources shortage.
