The Manchester Cancer Research Centre (MCRC) is planning to establish a £20m cancer research centre in Manchester, UK.

The centre, which will house 150 researchers, will be funded by the University of Manchester and Cancer Research UK.

Once the building is operational, researchers will develop diagnostic tests, advanced treatments and improved methods to predict how cancer could progress.

MCRC director and chief scientist of Cancer Research UK Nic Jones said the researchers needed a new purpose-built building to expand and enhance life-saving research.

“The proposed building will ensure that the MCRC provides outstanding opportunities and a vibrant environment for researchers, clinicians and external partners to work collaboratively towards this vision through a single-site ‘bench to bedside’ approach,” Jones said.
