The Paulig Eye Surgery Centre in Germany has acquired advanced technology for performing Keraflex KXL, a non-invasive and non-surgical treatment for keratoconus, from Avedro.
Using the Keraflex system, keratoconic corneas can be reshaped in a simple procedure within few seconds, the centre has said.
The cornea is then strengthened and biomechanically stabilised using Avedro’s KXL system for accelerated cross-linking. p>
Dr Sylvia Paulig, an innovator in the field, said that the technology provided by Avedro would allow the centre to offer keratoconic patients a fast, safe, non-invasive treatment, and an alternative to corneal transplant.
