The Directorate-General of Health Services at Dhofar Governorate, Oman, has announced that the construction of the 700-bed Sultan Qaboos Hospital will begin in early 2012.

The five-storey hospital will offer paediatric emergency, physiotherapy, nuclear medicine, general surgery, ophthalmology, psychiatry, paediatric surgery, urology, neurosurgery and radiology services.

Dhofar Governorate Health Affairs director-general Khalid bin Mohammed al Mashaikhi said the outpatient clinics will be distributed among the new hospital and the Salalah Health Complex.

“The hospital will be supported with advanced equipment and professional staff to ensure a high level of medical service,” the Oman Observer quotes Al Mashaikhi as saying.
