Singapore's National University Hospital has become the first in the Asia Pacific to install a closed-loop medication management system that improves patient safety and operational efficiency in its wards.

The automated medication-dispensing cabinet system by Omnicell will assist in providing the right medication to the right patient and improve workflow of office staff, enabling them to focus on improving patient safety.

The implementation of the automated medication-dispensing system began in February and seven wards have since had the system installed.

The hospital plans to fully implement the system across all its 38 wards by the third quarter of this year.
