The Qatar Supreme Council of Health plans to establish hospitals and primary health centres exclusively for expatriate workers in the Gulf state.

The hospitals are being designed for single workers to reduce pressure on the existing Hamad Medical Corporation healthcare facilities, according to Qatar Daily.

The hospitals will be built in Doha city's industrial area and Al Shamal. The health centres will be set up near the hospitals.

The facilities include emergency care, general medicine, general surgery, and treatment of illnesses like trauma and occupational diseases that are common among workers.

The three hospitals are initially planned to have about 80 beds each and will be upgraded later based on the demands of the area.

The project is scheduled to be complete by 2011.
