Detroit's Henry Ford Hospital in the US state of Michigan has adopted a unique patient safety surveillance and clinical decision support technology to prevent the spread of infectious diseases.

The technology enables hospital-wide infection surveillance and reporting, and helps with individual patient-based infection management and antimicrobial stewardship.

Henry Ford Hospital director of pharmacy Ed Szandzik said that the system, supplied by TheraDoc, will help in automating the monitoring for infections and antibiotic use.
