Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas, US has opened two technically advanced neurosurgery operating room suites to help physicians during brain surgery.

The $16.5m centre combines GE Healthcare's MR Surgical Suite and BrainLAB's BrainSUITE iMRI.

The iMRI navigation system provides real-time information on the spatial positioning of surgical instruments and a neuroradiology suite equipped with the high-definition 1.5T magnetic resonance scanner provides intra-operative images of the brain.

This helps physicians to accurately view and operate on brain tumours.
