Walsall Hospitals NHS Trust in the UK has deployed a new visual control system that displays patient information on large electronic screens to help healthcare staff effectively manage patient care.

Healthcare services firm McKesson’s Horizon Enterprise Visibility software aims to improve resource efficiency and bed usage, decreasing hospital costs and enhancing the quality of patient care.

The real-time system coordinates with the hospital’s information systems and displays patient information through colour-coded symbols.

The technology allows staff to view the status of every ward and bed as well as the location of each patient.

The electronic whiteboards are expected to save one hour of each nurse’s shift by cutting up to ten phone calls and four logins to the current hospital patient system.
