Three million people were unable to get an appointment with a National Health Service (NHS) dentist and around 4.5 million gave up trying to find a dentist in the past two years, according to a new survey by Which? magazine.

The survey, which was carried out on about 2,600 adults, found that although there were difficulties, nine out of ten people were successful in getting an appointment with an NHS dentist.

The consumer watchdog Which? has developed an online dentist finder to enable patients to easily make an appointment and urged the UK government to fill in the gaps where accessing an NHS dentist is difficult.
