The US Michigan State Medical Society (MSMS) has collaborated with Microsoft to provide secure connectivity of medical and pharmacy data for the state.

Patients and physicians who use the medical society's electronic portal, MSMS Connect, will now have access to critical healthcare data in one location, the Microsoft HealthVault.

The 3.5 million patients in Michigan who receive their pharmacy benefits through MedImpact can view their prescription information through the HealthVault, MSMS said.

Physicians can also access the patient information.

The full implementation of HealthVault in MSMS Connect will enable patients to store their or whole family's health record, in one location at no cost, MSMS said.

The MSMS represents a professional association of about 15,000 physicians in Michigan.
